At age 10, my family moved to the tropical island of Papua New Guinea to work as missionaries. International friends, traveling the world, learning about other cultures, and of course studying music, were all part of my formative years.
After high school I returned to southern California to study music at Vanguard University in Costa Mesa. While there I was involved in various school, church, and community choirs, bands, orchestras, and musical productions. I graduated with a B.A. in Music Education and a California Teaching Credential.
I have taught piano and flute lessons since 1996, as well as two years of public school choir and math. During my time teaching in Colorado Springs, Colorado, I averaged 45–50 students per week. I also served as Secretary on the board of the Pikes Peak Music Teachers Association that had over 100 members.
I have directed, accompanied, and participated in choirs, bands, orchestras, worship teams, and handbell choirs. Over the years I have played for recitals, weddings, funerals, art shows, recordings, accompanied vocalists, given solo recitals, adjudicated competitions, and worked as the administrator for a conservatory of arts program.
I now live in Flagstaff, Arizona and enjoy the amazing forests and trails here. Humphreys Peak (elevation 12,637') is pictured above and reminds me of Pikes Peak in Colorado, my favorite hiking area.
I opened Infusing Music Studios in August 2015 where I teach private piano and flute lessons to students ages five and older, from beginning to early advanced levels. Infusing Music Studios is located at 3005 N West St. (near Coconino High School). I am part of Northern Arizona Music Teachers Association and have published music teacher resources through Infusing Music Publications.
In addition to making music of all kinds I enjoy running, cycling, cooking, knitting, the outdoors, playing with my kids, cultivating friendships, watching movies, and traveling. (Oh, and did I mention that I like chocolate?)
I would love to help you or your child discover the amazing world of music!
